    Manasija monastery

    A stunning example of medieval Serbian architecture, Manasija Monastery dates back to the early 15th century and was founded by Despot Stefan Lazarević. Surrounded by massive fortified walls and defensive towers, it is one of the best-preserved monuments of its kind in Serbia. The monastery was also an important cultural and literary center, known for the Resava School, where manuscripts were copied and preserved.
